Recently, astronomers have uncovered four hidden white dwarf stars near Earth, each concealed by its brighter red dwarf companion. What makes these findings particularly intriguing is the method used to uncover them. The four discoveries have also allowed astronomers to revise the census of white dwarfs within 65 light-years of Earth. Previous models predicted around 4-5 such systems, but the researchers identified exactly four, closely matching these estimates.
